Palm oil is a vegetable oil made from the fruit of the palm tree. There are two types of Palm Oil, Crude Palm Oil and Palm Kernel Oil.

Palm oil is extremely versatile, which is why it is used in many industries. It is used in foods, cosmetics and as biofuel.
At room temperature, the oil is semi-solid which benefits spreads; it is resistant to oxidation which lengthens products shelf life; and lastly it is stable at high temperatures which is important for frying.

How is Palm Oil made?

There are two kinds of palm oil, Crude Palm Oil and Palm Kernel Oil.
Crude Palm Oil is the oil made from the flesh of the palm fruit. The fruit is pressed, which squeezes the oil from the flesh of the fruit
Palm Kernel Oil is the oil made from the kernel of the palm fruit. The kernels are at first cracked and deshelled, then the kernels are crushed to produce the Palm Kernel Oil.
